Goff’s Caye

Goff's Caye is a small island located just off the shore of Belize City. It can be easily accessed via boat, catamaran and or yacht.. Goff's Caye is only about 1.2 acres of sand and is registered as archaeological site due to its Colonial era settlement. It is not a private island, and Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute manages this public island. Things To Do while in Goff's Caye

Snorkeling and Diving: Since Goff's Caye is located right on the second largest living barrier reef in the world, it is home to a variety of species including sharks, rays, eels, parrot fish, trigger fish, groupers, sea horses, shrimp, sea fans, turtles, coral and others. Enjoy the numerous fish and beautiful corals along this barrier reef. Take the opportunity to see hard and soft corals, sponges, tropical fishes; you can also see lion fish especially at the end of the day. The reef system located just off the shore of Goff's Caye encompasses pinnacles, spur and groove formations, swim-throughs and more. Whether you are an experienced snorkeler or going to dive for the first time, you can experience underwater wonders that you will not find anywhere else. From here, cruise out to Turneffe Islands Atoll. Our first dive is one of most famous dive sites - "The Elbow,” where you can find horse-eye jacks, Atlantic spadefish, snappers and permit, as well as see sharks, turtles and eagle. Go to Lighthouse Reef Atoll, and explore colored sponges, gorgonian, sea whips, reef fish and cruising pelagics while diving at Half Moon Caye Wall. You can even try a night dive at Belize Barrier Reef. While here, you will get to see different colors of coral crevices and amazing variants of starfish, red hermit crabs and shrimps during your night dive.

Fishing and Other Water Activities: The waters along the Goff's Caye and nearby Water Caye are home to an abundant array of tropical fish. Whether you are fishing for sport or fishing for fun, you will really have a memorable experience fishing the Belizean reef waters. Our fishing guide will take you to good fishing spots where you can catch snappers, mackerel, cobia, jacks and sometimes kingfish. Dining and Shopping Options: Facilities on the island are very basic. There is no established restaurant and shops here, but locals sell BBQ chicken kebabs and grilled lobster tails to visitors. They also offer cold beers, sodas and coconuts for sale. For shopping, you have to get back to the Belize ship terminal or move towards Belize Atolls such as Lighthouse Reef, Glover's Reef Atoll or Turneffe Islands. From local souvenirs to timeless items, some of the best shopping locations in the Belize Cayes and Atolls include Belizean Arts, 12 Belize, Chan's Mini Mart, Marina's Store, Toucan Gift Shops, and The Greenhouse among others.
